Clipper Lounge, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

I was back in Hong Kong short a while ago, and spent a week at Novotel Century, as none of 5 star hotels were available due to more visitors in the island (partially because of wealthy refugees from Tokyo as well as French bankers in Tokyo).  But, I was lucky enough to invite friends to breakfast to catch up, and it was good excuse to have nice breakfasts in Central area like Mandarin Oriental.

I suppose it was more than two years ago to hop around hotels in Hong Kong Island to compare omelet, and Clipper Lounge was one of destination.  They were serving three-folded omelet as same as other Hong Kong hotels, and this time again.  But I can recall their other selection of dishes increased.  Enjoy!

Cafe Causette, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

Please do not blame my laziness.  Now I am on the way for world-round trip and at the final destination, HCM City.  Before coming here, I passed by New York, London, Jersey and Hong Kong, and had some omelette.  I cannot tell why but I have been tied up with many other matters (and my luggage has been keeping slightly less than 30kg and getting more and more like my belly…) so that I can not even transfer photos to PC or iPad to write…

Here is a photo, at Cafe Causette, in Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong (or old Mandarin Oriental).

As you see, unlike other hotels in Hong Kong where I tried in several years, they serve non-three-folded omelette!  Yeah, beautiful seamless one, surprisingly.  In fact this was my eye-opening surprise as I have been feeling sleepy due to jet lag as well as tiredness….

Well, at the end, Mandarin is Mandarin.  Quality talks…

Garden Cafe, Conrad Hong Kong

Conrad HK, April 2010

I am not sure if I have listed here before, but, this time I could not get upgraded to access to executive lounge for stay at Conrad due to fully occupation, whole this week I will come to have omelette here at Garden Cafe.  (Do not blame my lazy selection of hotel to stay at Conrad Hong Kong again and again; I am lucky enough to obtain a corporate rate from Conrad so I cannot change anywhere else…) As you see, it is three-folded one, with mushroom which I asked to put it in, a typical Hong Kong hotel style 🙂

The Clipper Lounge, Mandarine Oriental Hong Kong

Submitted The Clipper Lounge, Mandarine Oriental Hong Kong – August 2007

This is the 3rd sequel of breakfast hopper in Hong Kong, at the Clipper Lounge, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong.  I always stay at Conrad Hong Kong, so I remember that I woke up and made up my mind suddenly and jumped into taxi to get there by 5 minutes from Conrad.  I assume the building is slightly old so that the lounge has lower ceiling comparing with other hotels, but yes, quality is fine.  However, again and again, omelet is three-folded!  I wonder if all the chiefs in town should be trained to cook
omelet in that way, otherwise banned 🙂
Anyway, I can recall that I should not compare with the one at Kshiki, Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, though HK one is still good to have.

Cafe Too, Shangri-La, Hong Kong

Submitted Cafe Too, Shangri-La Hong Kong – August 2007

This is a second sequel of breakfast hopping around top-tier hotels in Hong Kong island 🙂
Cafe Too in Shangri-La is all-day buffet style dining but its quality is notable (and, yes expensive :-).

However, omelet is made in the same way as Conrad, three-folded cooked egg sheet,
so you cannot enjoy much about juicy egg!!!  But, still, without saying, satisfactory level of dish
thanks to basic skill and technique of dining with Cafe Too.  Enjoy!
